Everything you need to know about the Hamptons Group recycling centre

Recycling centre

Stoke-on-Trent and its surrounding areas have numerous recycling centres, including Brown Recycling and Cherry Hill Waste, as well as the city’s tips in Burslem and Hanford. It’s worth noting that the Burslem and Hanford sites do not accept business waste, making them unsuitable for tradespeople. At the Hamptons Group, we welcome both household and commercial waste, regardless of whether you arrive in a car, van or any other type of vehicle.

Location and opening hours

Our recycling centre is conveniently situated at the end of Hamptons Way, just off the A34 in Newcastle-under-Lyme. We are open Monday to Saturday during the following hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 07:00–17:30
  • Saturday: 07:00–12:30
  • Sunday: closed

Best times to visit

Every day is different, and we can’t ever predict the quiet and hectic times. That said, late afternoons tend to be quite busy.

Visiting our yard

As a commercial operation, we either charge for accepting waste or pay for valuable items that we can resell, such as scrap metal, cables and certain vehicle parts. On arrival, check in at the weighbridge, present your identification and inform the operator about your materials. You’ll then receive a weighbridge ticket and be directed to the unloading area. After unloading, return to the weighbridge to receive a final ticket detailing your transaction, including the weight of the materials dropped off.

Top tips for a smooth check-in

  1. Pre-sort materials: Organising your waste before arrival can expedite the unloading process and ensure efficient recycling.
  2. Follow instructions: Adhere to staff guidance and site signage to maintain safety and accuracy.
  3. Keep documents handy: Having all the necessary documentation ready will streamline both the check-in and weigh-out processes.

Site rules

For safety reasons, children are not allowed in the yard due to the heavy machinery and traffic on site. If children are present, please ensure they remain in your vehicle. Additionally, please wear appropriate clothing and a high-vis vest when outside your vehicle.

The importance of accurate waste disposal records

Maintaining accurate records is vital for efficient recycling and compliance with environmental regulations. Documenting the types and quantities of waste you dispose of at our recycling centre allows you to monitor your sustainability efforts and identify areas for improvement. Detailed records ensure transparency, support sustainability goals, and can assist businesses in meeting regulatory requirements and achieving environmental certifications. Regularly updating and reviewing your records can also provide insights into waste reduction and resource management, promoting more eco-friendly practices.
